Auto-hide with manners

Edges are busy places.
Docksmith waits its turn.

A hidden dock answers only on its own stretch of the edge — never the whole side. On top of that, busy edges wait for a deliberate pause before revealing, and a click anywhere sends a dock home instantly.

Traffic passes free; intent gets the dock. And the moment you click elsewhere, the dock is gone — no lingering, no waiting.

A delay with honest stops

The intent delay is tunable in General — five stops, each one a real, distinct wait on the engine's own clock. The range starts at a quarter second because that is the engine's own floor on a busy edge: at any less, merely hesitating before clicking a menu title was enough to summon a dock. Nothing finer is offered than can be honored, so the number you read is the wait you get.

It guards only the busy edges: the top edge and boundaries between displays. Quiet edges stay instant — outside full screen, where edges answer to the knock instead.

And everywhere, the band is only as wide as the dock: pointing at an empty stretch of edge summons nothing.

Click anywhere, and it's gone

A revealed dock doesn't linger while you work. The moment you click somewhere else — the desktop, a window, anything — it concedes, instantly. Clicking elsewhere is the universal "I'm done here".

Menus outrank docks.

While a menu is open — a menu-bar dropdown, a right-click menu — the busy edges go fully silent. That covers the edge a dropdown actually falls across: the top edge, where the menu bar lives, and any boundary you share with a second display. A menu is a decision in progress, and Docksmith does not interrupt decisions.
